Preaching the end of the world
Scenes from Rio Piedras Market, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
I loved this market for it authenticity, the lack of tourists, its color and local flavors. If you are ready for haggling at the road side stalls. eating simple, yet delicious food, and bargain hunting in the bigger stores, this is the place for you. The market is bursting with color and sounds. Every store owner has their own music going, the vendors are joking with customers, customers are haggling with vendors…. In the midst of this was this preacher going full swing in Spanish about the end of the world. (I asked a vendor close by what he was preaching about). He unfortunately had no audience, except an assistant who was handing out the fliers.
In the background is the covered market with fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, fresh dairy and butcher shops. there is also a food court and several salons.

There is a huge tree in the little plaza in front of the Cathedral, spanning not only the plaza but also the side streets running along it.
